Central Market proprietors, Bill and Stevie Curtis, have operated the Bay Head business since 1995. However, the building has been in the Curtis family since Bill’s grandfather, Adam Findlay, opened its doors as a butcher shop in 1910. In 1929, Findlay expanded the establishment into a grocery store, and after prohibition laws were eased, he began to stock an assortment of fine liquor. Bill and Kathryn Curtis, Findlay’s daughter and son-in-law, and current owner Bill’s parents, took over the store in 1938 and operated it until 1995.

Today, Curtis’ Central Market, with its light, airy and friendly neighbor environment, continues to grow in order to meet the needs and lifestyles of its present generations of customers.
